Modern fighter aircraft are aerodynamically unstable. It would be impossible for even top pilots to fly them were it not for the computer Flight Control System. The upside of this is the incredible maneuverability afforded by the combination of an aerodynamically unstable airframe, computer assistance and a talented fighter pilot.

H.A.W.X features over fifty fighter air craft, including modern, prototype and even Cold War-era models. See some of them in action, pulling off extreme maneuvers, in this latest video.

Xbox 360 Demo Now Out!

Kicking off the countdown to the game’s release, Ubisoft announced today that a playable demo of Tom Clancy’s EndWar™ for Xbox 360® is now available.

The demo, exclusively available for Xbox 360, is free and offered for download on Xbox LIVE® Marketplace for Xbox 360.

The demo features both single-player and multiplayer gameplay. The single-player portion of the demo is part of the “Prelude to War” campaign, serving as a tutorial for players. The multiplayer portion contains one mode, Conquest, and one map, La Mancha, Spain. The multiplayer demo contains one-versus-one functionality and includes full match-making capabilities.

Tom Clancy’s EndWar will ship in EMEA territories on November 4, 2008 for Xbox 360 and the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system.

With only a limited number of slots available for access to the VIP demo, UK fans that pre-order the game at Gamestation will be given access to a unique token on a first-come first-served basis that will allow them to download the VIP demo from Xbox LIVE® Marketplace for Xbox 360.

“We believe EndWar will revolutionize the strategy genre on consoles and are thrilled gamers will be able to get a little taste of why we are so excited about EndWar’s release this holiday season,” said John Parkes, EMEA Marketing Director at Ubisoft. “With its innovative voice command and intuitive game design, fans will be able to learn first hand how a console game was able to win the judges over and win Best Strategy Game of E3 for the first time in a category previously dominated by PC titles.”

The pre-launch VIP demo will feature multiplayer functionality and serve as a final stress test for the online systems of the massive war game, allowing gamers to get a taste of EndWar’s voice command enabled strategy prior to its release.

The Xbox 360 VIP demo of Tom Clancy’s EndWar will begin in early October.

The new external camera system works far better than it logically ought to, while the use of real-world satellite data helps give the game that sense of place that few flight combat games have ever been able to pull off convincingly. Factor in the intrigue of a decent storyline, and the extra context given to it through weaving the narrative into several concurrent events in other Tom Clancy games, and it suddenly all starts looking an exciting and convincing prospect. And gutsy.”
