End War Escalation Pack DLC

The “Escalation Pack” DLC for EndWar is now available for Xbox 360® and PLAYSTATION®3. The DLC is available for 800 Microsoft points and 9.99 Euros for the PLAYSTATION®3 .

The “Escalation Pack” DLC includes four new exclusive missions on all new battlefields playable in skirmish mode, three exclusive unit upgrades and an extra set of achievements or trophies to expand your experience with Tom Clancy’s EndWar. The new missions include the Siege of a firebase in Kursk (Ukraine), the Assault on Devon beach (England), the Raid on Rota naval base (Spain) and the Conquest of Dorsey Knob (USA, West Virginia).

The “Escalation Pack” also introduced three new unit upgrades and 10 new and exciting achievements or trophies.

First Theater of War Report: Russia Starts Strong

The First War has begun and the front lines have moved so much over the last week. ComDev QuidProKuo has been watching the action closely and has written detailed field reports for both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 wars. These reports will be appearing weekly, make sure to keep an eye out for the latest news from the battle field!

Xbox 360
Day One – The war begins with the JSF attacking Arrabida and the European Enforcer Corps. launching a simultaneous offensive against the Russians in lstra and Mahilyow. Meanwhile, the Russians touched down at Grissom Air Base.

Day Two – The Russians manage to seize Grissom Air Base from the Americans and push on into Springfield and Ft. Campbell. In Europe they seize Brenner pass from the EFEC after defeating them at Istra and Mahilyow. At the same time the Europeans manage to take Okefenokee.

Day Three – More loses for the JSF, the EFEC marches north into Pamlico while the SGB attacks Shenandoah Valley after taking Springfield and Ft. Campbell. They also launch offensives into Three Mile Island and USS Reagan Seabase and hit the Euros at Copenhagen. The JSF continues to stay in a defensive posture.

Day Four – The JSF is able to keep the Russians from taking USS Reagan Seabase and push the EFEC out of Pamlico. Battles still rage on in Shenandoah Valley and Three Mile Island between the SGB and the JSF. The EFEC begins to get the upper hand at Brenner Pass but lose a little bit of ground in Copenhagen.

Day Five – Russia gains the upper hand at Copenhagen and secures it, but at the same time the Euros push them out of Brenner pass and move back into Mahilyow and Istra. The JSF finally goes on the offense with a strike into EFEC-held Arrabida after pushing the Euros out of Okefenokee. However, up north the US doesn’t fare nearly as well. In just one turn it loses Shenandoah Valley, USS Reagan Seabase, and Three Mile Island. The Russians lay siege to Washington DC.

Day Six – The JSF makes a spectacular recovery and push the SGB out of Washington DC while also taking back Three Mile Island and pushing back into Shenandoah Valley and Ft. Campbell. However, the EFEC is also able to push them out of Arrabida and take USS Reagan Seabase. On the Eastern Front the EFEC takes back Istra and Mahilyow and capitalize on their momentum to move into Vlore and Ft. Levski. For the first time since the war began the Russian offense stalls.

Day Seven – Territories continue to shift. The JSF reclaims Springfield but is completely expelled from Shenandoah Valley. A JSF offense begins to retake Grissom Air Base. At the same time the EFEC takes Pamlico, Vlore, and Copenhagen and also manage to move into Sevastopol, Carpathia, and Thessaly.

PS3
Day One – The war begins with the Russians attacking Grissom Air Base and the United States beginning a strong offensive in Arrabida against the EFEC. Meanwhile the Europeans launch a two-pronged assault on SPZ-held Mahilyow and Istra.

Day Two – The JSF seizes Arrabida and moves inward to La Mancha and Le CEITO Army Base on EFEC territory and takes Rondane from the Russians. At the same time the Russians push back both EFEC incursions into their territory and manage to take Brenner Pass from them as well, but they lose any foothold on US soil after failing to secure Grissom Air Base.

Day Three – The Russians push back onto Grissom Air Base and attack Pascagoula in the US. The JSF are defeated by the EFEC at La Mancha and Le CEITO and also loses Rodane. While this goes on the Europeans hold their lines steady.

Day Four – Things begin to look bad for the EFEC. They lose Arrabida to the Americans while fierce fighting rages in La Mancha. On the Eastern front they are completely pushed out of Ramstein Air Base and Wilstermarsch comes under attack by the SPZ. The Russians dominate in the US, taking Pascagoula and Grissom Air Base and move into Springfield and Ft. Campbell.

Day Five – The Russians gain more territory in the US. Ft. Campbell and Springfield fall and begin skirmishes with the Americans in Shenandoah Valley and Three Mile Island. The Europeans also begin an offensive on US soil at USS Reagan Seabase and manage to push the JSF out of La Mancha and take back Arrabida. But on the East they lose Wilstermarsch and Copenhagen to the SPZ and Rozenburg becomes contested territory.

Day Six – The Russians gain yet more US territory. Shenandoah Valley and Three Mile Island fall. Washington DC itself is under siege. However, the US manages to push the Euros out of USS Reagan Seabase, only to have the Russians take their place as the new aggressors. At the same time, the JSF manages to seize Arrabida again and move into La Mancha and Le CEITO again. They also take Glen Albyn. To make matters worse for the Europeans, the Russians take Rozenburg.

Day Seven – In one valiant push, the EFEC pushes the JSF out of all of their territories except Arrabida and take the fight to US soil by attacking USS Reagan Seabase again. They also counterattack the Russians in Ramstein Air Base and Rozenburg. Meanwhile the Americans push the SPZ out of Washington DC and retake Three Mile Island.

TOW Outage Compensation

Xbox 360 Demo Now Out!

Kicking off the countdown to the game’s release, Ubisoft announced today that a playable demo of Tom Clancy’s EndWar™ for Xbox 360® is now available.

The demo, exclusively available for Xbox 360, is free and offered for download on Xbox LIVE® Marketplace for Xbox 360.

The demo features both single-player and multiplayer gameplay. The single-player portion of the demo is part of the “Prelude to War” campaign, serving as a tutorial for players. The multiplayer portion contains one mode, Conquest, and one map, La Mancha, Spain. The multiplayer demo contains one-versus-one functionality and includes full match-making capabilities.

Tom Clancy’s EndWar will ship in EMEA territories on November 4, 2008 for Xbox 360 and the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system.

The End War VIP Demo is now scheduled to start on October 7th. Here's a quick FAQ that should answer some of the questions people have been asking about it.

Q: What is the EndWar VIP Demo?
A: The EndWar VIP Demo is a chance for a select group of gamers to get early hands-on time with a small portion of Tom Clancy’s EndWar before the game is launched.

Q: How can I get a key for the EndWar VIP Demo?
A: Pre-order EndWar on Xbox 360 at select retailers. Go to www.endwargame.com and click the "SIGN UP" or "EDIT" button (depending on if you already have an account or not). Click the "Please update me with exclusive content and offers about Endwar and other Ubisoft titles" check box! You will be contacted via email with a special code to gain access to the VIP Demo.

In the UK, pre-order from GameStation to get a demo key.

Q: I did all that and I still don’t have an enlistment code yet, what’s up?
A: Enlistment codes are coming soon.

Q: Are the VIP Demo and Stress Test the same thing?
A: Yes, the official name is VIP Demo.

Q: What are the contents of the VIP Demo?
A: One single-player story mission, one map that is playable in skirmish mode either 1 versus 1 or 1 versus AI. The Voice Command Trainer is also included.

A: The VIP demo is not for all pre-orders. It is a special promotional operation with a limited timeframe and scope. Not all retailers have keys to the VIP demo.

Ubisoft recently announced that it has signed an agreement with Tom Clancy to acquire all intellectual property rights to the Tom Clancy name for use in video games and associated products including related books, movies and merchandising products.

"After ten years of a highly successful collaboration which has seen the creation of blockbusters that set standards in the videogame industry, such as Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, today, acquiring the perpetual property rights of the Tom Clancy name for video games and related projects is a major event,” stated Yves Guillemot, Chief Executive Officer at Ubisoft. “The Tom Clancy brand is recognised around the world for offering exciting video games, films and books. Capitalising on the strong franchises that we’ve built over the past 10 years, we will take the Tom Clancy game brand to the next level of the global entertainment industry."

FUSE 07 Takes To The Stage

FUSE 07, the UK’s key gaming and music event, has been confirmed to take place at the legendary Shepherds Bush Empire on Friday 2nd November. As part of London Games Festival, Fuse 07 is the only collaboration that brings together fans of music and videogames and will build on the success of FUSE 06, which was held last year in Newbury.

FUSE 07 will bring together two thousand gaming and music fans and a host of stars under one roof. The event will see some of the UK's most skilled gaming clans fight it out in a tournament final.

An incredible ‘Gibson Battle of the Bands’ competition is to launch imminently giving unsigned bands across the country the chance to play on the night. These winners will play alongside an established headline act.

“The cross over between games and music is an obvious one. FUSE events help to provide something exciting and fun for the gaming community and a wider audience.” said Phil Brannelly, Senior Ubisoft Brand Manager.

Attendees will also get the chance to play yet to be released titles from Ubisoft.

Q: In multiplayer, what happens if you go into a game and all your opponents leave in the middle of a game? That’s annoying in that your game ends early and the fact your units gain experience. Do they still gain experience? What happens if you get disconnected due to an internet problem?

A: If players drop out before the match ends firstly the game doesn’t end because their units are taken over by AI – so you can keep playing. Secondly any troops which they had on the battlefield are killed. In EndWar you have a persistent Battalion, and as you units survive from battle to battle they accumulate experience. If you pull out of a game then you are throwing these troops away.

Q: Will there be WMD's or other large scale tactical weapons be in Endwar? If so will they affect other multiplayer games or the large map in multiplayer if they are used? If not why were they not included in Endwar?

A: Yes. We have massive scale tactical weapons including tactical nukes, satellite kinetic energy weapons [“Rods from God”] and satellite THEL [Tactical High Energy Lasers]. There are no city destroying strategic nukes because the missile shield provides defense against these, and this is why the superpowers fight it out in a massive scale conventional war.

Q: I was just wondering how Canada fits into this whole global conflict. Will we ally ourselves with the US? Or Europe? Or do we get invaded by Russia? lol. Great looking game you guys have here by the way.

A: Good question. When WW3 breaks out there are a few countries with divided loyalties who initially try and broker peace and stay out of the fighting. This includes all the major Commonwealth countries such as Canada, England and Australia. Initially they are going to try and avoid the conflict and stay neutral, but in order to survive they are going to be forced to choose a side and fight...

Voice From the Bunker - August 20

This week is the first time we're going to pull back the curtain and unveil EndWar to the world at the Game Convention in Leipzig Germany. It's a bit of a tradition to kick off a World War on German soil so I have to say it seems like the right place to show off our version of World War 3. I've never been to the Game Convention before but other guys from the studio who were there last year for Splinter Cell said it's pretty crazy. Since the downsizing of E3 I'm hoping that I get a chance to check out some other games at the show.

One problem with doing big press events like this is that a couple of people on the team end up doing the majority of interviews and getting their face on youtube and the rest of the team are invisible. I'm even guiltier than usual this time around because for the last couple of weeks I haven't even been at work. I became a dad 3 weeks ago today and while I've been sterilising bottles and changing nappies about a hundred and fifty people here at the studio have been working their guts out to make sure our demo kicks arse. Then I'm going to jump on a Lufthansa flight, stroll in, plug in a 360 and show off the future of strategy. The best I can do is to try and make sure the presentation makes a good impression so the team gets to read some cool press quotes about the game. It's always motivating for a team to see other people getting hyped about our game, especially on a massive project like this where we've been working for a couple of years and are starting to gear up for the run to the finish line.

How Much Battlefield Variety Will There Be?

Q: How much variation will there be in the battlefields? So far we have only heard of being able to play in Paris, D.C., and Moscow, but what about the rural areas that stand in the way? Will we fight in the flat French/Belgian countryside or the Alps in order to reach the urban areas? Possible naval battles?

A: There are dozens of battlefields on both sides of the Atlantic with a huge variety of tactical challenges, from the Black Forests of Germany and the Spanish plains to New York Harbor, rural America and military bases. There aren’t going to be naval battles in this game, but they are taking place over the horizon.

Will There Be Strategic Ways To Defeat The Enemy?

Q: Will there be strategic ways to defeat the enemy? For example, if Russia controls all of Europe and the U.S. plans to launch an invasion, how could they set about doing that? Seizing the British Isles and then a D-Day like drive through France? Landings in Italy or Spain? Capturing Scandinavia, Moscow and then crushing Russian forces from the east? Mass forces in Alaska and invade Siberia? On that note, how could people playing as the U.S. plan such an invasion, like secure forums for each side?

A: All of those strategies would be possible. As the three factions you can conquer the world in any order you like. Not only can you choose where to advance, invade, defend and fight but you can conduct sabotage missions behind enemy lines to support other players from your nation.
